The 2016 Runway Moms for a Cause fundraiser took place at the The Westin Crystal City on May 13 to benefit Childbirth Survival International (CSI), a 501(c)(3) organization. Hosted by Paul Wharton of CW Television, the event started with a cocktail reception and live performances by an outstanding performer from Duke Ellington School of the Arts- Khalaya Myers followed by Kiganda girls (from Uganda) Dance troupe/performance. The event ended with the the runway show of the “Power Moms” in L~Shandi Designs and a collaborating designer - DMILIKAH Swim Wear. The runway looks were coupled with one-of-a-kind jewelry designs by UNICAS LLC. Over 150 guests that were representative of DC’s elite, dignitaries, corporations and global media attended the event and together, we raised about $7,000 for CSI. Our Fundraising efforts will help CSI to continue with their mission to improve and strengthen quality, access, and delivery of health services and information for pregnant women, newborns, children, and adolescents/youth in marginalized communities.
