The historic debut of Runway Moms for a Cause fundraiser took place at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Washington, DC on September 30, 2011, as a prelude to the Nigerian Independence Day celebrations. Hosted by Fox 5 news anchor Maureen Umeh, DC metro area entrepreneur moms walked the runway with RMFC founder and fashion designer, Lara Akinsanya of L~Shandi Designs. Our fundraising efforts enabled our beneficiary, United for Kids Foundation (UKF) Nigeria a 501(c)(3) organization, to carry out programs fighting poverty and illiteracy through education and social welfare programs in Nigeria. The runway show collection was complimented with jewelry provided by Christine Hanes of Fezelry Designs and the entire event was produced by Nenye Njoku, LLC.
