Kemi Asante is dedicated to improving health and achieving equity in health for all people worldwide. She received her Doctorate in Pharmacy from Howard University, and Master of Public Health and Graduate Certificate in Global Health from UMass Amherst. She also completed the USAID Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Response (HA/DR) Course for Senior Managers. Kemi is currently an officer in the United States Public Health Service (PHS).
As a PHS officer, Kemi is a member of PHS-2 Rapid Deployment Force (RDF), a specialized team of officers capable of deploying within 12 hours to any public health emergencies and urgent health needs arising from natural or man-made disasters. Her most significant deployment experience was during the Ebola outbreak when she served at the Monrovia Medical Unit (MMU), a 25-bed Ebola Treatment Facility in Liberia to treat healthcare workers infected with the virus. This lifechanging experience further reinforced her commitment to global health. Her goal is to use her experience and expertise to influence health issues that transcend national boundaries.
In 2017, Kemi and her husband founded ULTRASPEX LLC, a socially responsible company that specializes in high-quality residential, commercial and environmental inspection services. ULTRASPEX aims to empower clients with knowledge and insight regarding the overall physical and environmental condition of a property. Prolonged exposure to poor indoor environmental conditions can cause diseases such as lung cancer. The goal of ULTRASPEX is to help clients make well-informed real estate investment decisions. ULTRASPEX donates a portion of their profit to the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), the only global organization dedicated to the study of lung cancer and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), a non-profit organization that ensures humanitarian protection and assistance for victims of war and other situations of violence.
In her spare time, Kemi enjoys interior decorating, traveling with her family and learning about different cultures. Most importantly, she enjoys being mommy to her 2 beautiful daughters and teaching them the importance of using their knowledge and talents to make the world a better place for all who live in it, especially the less privileged.
